Two decades after CP Rail transferred the John Street roundhouse to the City of Toronto a few things have changed but much remains as it was the day the CPR moved out. Steamwhistle Brewing Company now occupies what used to be locomotive bays one through eleven. This section of the roundhouse was completely "de-constructed" while the Metro Toronto Convention Centre was built below roundhouse park and then re-built in 1998-9. The remaining bays twelve through thirty-two and the machine shop are in an as-left state with soot on the ceiling and peeling green paint on the walls except for the addition of a modern fire-protection system. This site is a photo journey through the building as it now stands in March 2006. TRHA gratefully acknowledges Glenn Garwood of the City of Toronto Culture Division and Cam Heaps, Steamwhistle Brewing for permission to enter the building and take photographs.
